Those crazy guys at Land Rover - what do they think they're doing? Mixing a 4x4 with a convertible and coming up with the Evoque Convertible at this year's Geneva Show? And they might even go into production with it. If you're looking for echoes of the Evoque in history, there have been many examples of 4x4 soft-tops in years gone by. Here are the cars whose fate Land Rover needs to consider before it gives the green light to any production run for the tasty but tentative Evoque Convertible.

Described as "a new twist to the Evoque story", the Evoque Convertible Concept launched at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show does something original: make a four-seater convertible out of the Evoque Coupe. But is it actually original? Not really, as we'll see. One thing that would make it original, though, is if it succeeds in production. Land Rover is currently assessing customer reaction, but if it is produced and proves popular, that will be a first.
