Ireland’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year

Last week saw Maria Gildea (20) from Co. Donegal crowned as Ireland’s Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012, when the country’s top specs-wearing style-setter finalists went head to head for the coveted title at a fashion event at the Minerva Suite in the RDS.

Glenda Gilson was on hand to introduce each of the finalists to the panel of judges (including Styleisle.ie's Lorna Weightman) as they took to the catwalk.

Winner Maria received one year’s representation with Assets Model Agency, a make-up master class with top make-up artist Zoe Clarke, a fashion portfolio shoot with Ireland’s top photographer Lili Forberg, a €250 House of Fraser gift card and a €215 Specsavers eyecare voucher. Maria now goes on to appear at the International Grand Final in London, which will be presented by Specsaver’s style ambassador, Gok Wan.
