Instead of spreading butter or margarine on your toast and sandwiches, try adding... nothing. Trust us, you'll soon get used to it and once you've added jam, scrambled eggs or your usual sandwich fillings, you don't really need it anyway. Buttering one piece of toast can add between 50 and 100 calories (depending on the type of spread) - meaning it could be more calorific than the bread.
